A human story of hope, inspiration\u2026 a beautiful, heart-rending exhibition\u2026 a story of frustration and resilience\u2026 My heart soared as Corina Duyn\u2019s dream of flying made it to the gallery and set the creative spirit free to inspire others.\u2019 \u2013 Liam Murphy, The Munster Express<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

I brought the dream of flying exhibition by Corina Duyn & Caroline Schofield. Supported by Waterford Healing Arts, GOMA, and Creative Waterford<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition title \u2018I brought the dream of flying\u2019<\/em> was inspired by a broken-winged bird puppet which accompanied Corina Duyn when she moved into full-time nursing home care in April 2021, aged 59. The exhibition featured work made in response to this move and illustrates the collaborative creative process between Corina and Artist Caroline Schofield as a result of Corina\u2019s increasing disability, and need for creative support to bring her ideas into being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This ground breaking exhibition took place at GOMA Gallery of Modern Art, Waterford from 14 January to 11 February 2023. The exhibition was presented by Waterford Healing Arts (R\u00e9alta) and GOMA, with funding from Creative Waterford. See press release on GOMA<\/strong><\/a> website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main body of the work was also included in Creative Brain Week<\/strong><\/a> in Dublin, March 2023. With lunch time talk at the gallery by Maeve Butler (WHA), Caroline Schofield and Dominic Campbell, Curator and Programmer Creative Brain Week. Unfortunately Corina was too ill to take part but was \u2018there\u2019 via a voice recording, and the screening of the \u2018Invisible Octopus\u2019 video poem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
